Introducing mentoring in viral hepatitis

It is widely agreed upon that mentoring has positive effects on job satisfaction and clinical practice. Studies in both the UK and USA have demonstrated that physicians with mentors see substantial benefits.

Many definitions of mentoring have been put forward however, for the purpose of this program, it is understood that ‘the successful mentoring relationship in medicine develops when a mentor with skills, knowledge, and experience provides advice, guidance, and support to his or her mentee.

In order to support practitioners involved, the mentoring program provides a framework and number of resources to help structure the mentoring relationship.
